Is of: Fall (2017) is a photographic work that captures autumn leaves. Its production, however, used a different approach than the typical color reproduction used in photo printing. I collected the yellow, red, and blue leaves of autumn and used a range of devices to extract the pigments from the leaves. These pigments were then used as ink for the printer to print out a picture of the scenery of autumn foliage. In other words, this is a photographic work that represents Nature with the colors of Nature itself. But as soon as the image is printed out, the color begins to gradually fade due to the influence of oxygen and light. This is very similar to many natural phenomena, like when autumn leaves fall on the ground to wither away. However, the medium of photography is essentially the still image of the subject. That is, this work is a still picture, but at the same time, it has the inherent attribute of Nature, which is change. This single photo encapsulates the human desire to possess Nature and the weak resistance of Nature. Actually, a number of different devices have been applied to the picture frame of the photo to preserve the colors of the autumnal leaves in the photograph.  An example of this is the impregnation method used in conservation science (blocking contact with oxygen by immersing the object in acrylic resin) and special lighting by optical fiber cable in which the ultraviolet rays have been removed. But no one can stop change, the essential characteristic of Nature. In this bitter tug-of-war between humans and nature, I find the universality of humanity that has prevailed for the last few centuries.
